YOUTH MINISTRY MISSION

To introduce our youth to the importance of parish community life and to instill in them the understanding that they are an integral part of the Church. We seek to involve them in activities that nurture their faith, invite them to embrace their calling “to know, to love, and to serve God,” and inspire each young person to take on the mission of sharing the Good News.

YOUTH MINISTRY VISION

The Youth Ministry of the Diocese of Nelson empowers young people to become living disciples of Christ by fostering a deep, personal relationship with Jesus and encouraging them to live out their faith through service to the Church and the wider community.

ADVENT MESSAGE

Dear Youth Ministry Coordinators of the Diocese of Nelson,

As we enter this sacred season of Advent, we step into a time filled with quiet promise and radiant hope. Advent invites us not only to prepare for the birth of Christ at Christmas, but also to attune our hearts to His continual coming in our ministries, in the young people we accompany, and in the everyday movements of the Holy Spirit.

In the spirit of the Church’s great tradition of emphasizing hope and watchfulness, Advent calls us to be leaders who listen deeply, serve joyfully, and wait with expectation. It reminds us that God is always at work, often in ways that grow slowly, gently, and beautifully in the hearts of the young.

To each of you who serve in youth ministry: thank you for your dedication, creativity, and compassion. Your presence in the lives of young people reflects Christ’s own nearness to those who seek Him. You help open paths for them to encounter Jesus in authentic and transformative ways. Your commitment is a sign of hope for our entire diocese.

As Advent unfolds, may you find moments of stillness to let God renew your spirit. May your ministries be strengthened with fresh creativity, deeper trust in God’s timing, and a renewed sense of joy in the mission entrusted to you. And may your witness help our young people discover that Christ comes to make all things new within them and around them.

Come, Lord Jesus. Fill our diocese, our parishes, and our youth with Your peace and light.

Blessings to each of you in this holy season.

Fr. Ferdinand Bayarong
